Student Life

Chaplain’s Class

We gather every Wednesday night at 8:00pm in the Student Center for fellowship, hanging out, eating food, discussing what’s going on in the world and on campus, and exploring our faith together. We believe that God’s dream for all of us is to become hopeful, generous, reconciled, and grounded in love. We spend time playing and praying, turning our hearts toward God and toward one another. We always have room for more, so please join us anytime!

Camp McDowell

Camp McDowell is the Diocese of Alabama's 1,140 acre retreat and conference center in Winston County, AL (about an hour's drive from Tuscaloosa). It's often called, "God's backyard", because of the abundant opportunities for recreation and enjoying nature. Several times a year, Canterbury encourages students to enjoy Camp McDowell weekends. These include a fall conference for college students and Vocare, a weekend renewal program that addresses the decisions young adults make that set the direction for much of their adult lives. Students are also enthusiastic participants in Canterbury's annual Icicle Retreat in February which brings together college students and older parishioners for fellowship, play, and study.

Student Center

Canterbury's Student Center provides a comfortable and convenient place for students to meet, hang out, grab a cup of coffee, or have a meal. With a fully-equipped kitchen as well as an inviting outdoor patio, it serves as the hub for the parish's social activities.
